4 States Where Right-Wingers Are Promoting Shocking Measures to Keep Women Barefoot and Pregnant

Share It:

The birth control skirmish is not the only regressive, anti-woman, anti-science battle being waged in this country.

:lolcry:
You can say that again!

It's been an exhausting few weeks for reproductive rights supporters. Most recently, we've been treated to a new round of a battle over birth control, as the debate over whether employees at religiously affiliated institutions should be required to receive insurance that covers birth control without a co-payment -- a right employees of all other U.S. companies will have under the Obama administration's new healthcare law -- rages on in Washington.

Many of us can't believe we're having a conversation, let alone a full-blown debate, about this issue in the year 2012, but here we are, watching women get shut out of this week's hearing on the subject, listening to men wax poetic about the "good old days" when low-cost birth control meant holding an aspirin between one's knees and enduring childish rants from a cabal of overly powerful Catholic bishops who, in the astute words of Jon Stewart, have "confused the war on...religion with not always getting everything [they] want.

I feel bad for the women folk who still only make about half what the men do in wages all week, but don't get to lay around and watch ball games and drink beer on the weekends.

Oh well, it will trickle down sooner or later.
Maybe they can scrub the toilets of the elite.
In BOTH toilets.. rite and left one!

You think THE GOP give a sheet at all? :lolcry:
:2guns: :wild: :umm:

Only bout themselves maybe.
Cold there? :cold:

I am sorry: I give this entire incident ZERO sympathy.

As a woman, I have heard this saying about an asiprin between the knees all my life. Why the hell the sudden shock now?

As a woman, I know that the decision to be barefoot and pregnant is ultimately up to you.

As a woman, I know that the restrictions that confine a woman in a woman's place are borne from a belief from within. Want to be more? Simply do it! Because the only thing holding you back is the belief instilled within you from an outside source that you yourself are not capable.

Joan of Arc is one example. My mother was another.

Any more women out there wanna make excuses for themselves?

I am right there with you on this one Lobo.

Known many women who have stood on their own two feet.

Sometimes they become victims of a rush of hormones though,
but that can be somewhat controlled via herbs and some tamer meds.

Margaret Thatcher was derided on her rise to power, and they opposition
under estimated her and she won.

Women can do it, and the glass ceiling may be there in some businesses,
but in others it is looking thin at most.
Trillions for banksters, suit wearing gangsters, globalist gluttony, common man's misery,
Only at the end, did most see the trend. ~ a rhyme by Me

Re: 4 States Where Right-Wingers Are Promoting Shocking Measures to Keep Women Barefoot and Pregnant

I was extremy lucky, in having the family I was born into. EVERY one of my family, supported me, and encouraged me to do "whatever you want- you can be anything you want". (If they only knew, I aspired to be a Sociopathic Empress of earth!).
But- all seriousness aside, I was interested in medicine- and it was NEVER suggested, I be a nurse. It was simply assumed, that I would be an MD. And later, a PhMD. If certain circumstances had not interfered, I would have been. I STILL know more about medicine, than my primary MD. I'm not sure if that is an indictment of our medical system, or a statement about me.
