Intricacies of Time, and Destiny.

Share It:

Hi Sheeet Fans,

Have you all ever given much consideration to what time is, and do each, and everyone of us truly have a destiny? They're both topics that intrigue me, as well as cause severe distaste to myself. They are in the realm of unanswerable as absolutes; each person's perspective can view them differently, and in the case of destiny, not at all. I want to share a story that just happened, and it's kinda weird.

I take a late afternoon walk everyday. Usually around a couple miles, and always on the side of the road. I live somewhat rural, and the road our house is used by the further outlying "aldeas", or villages. It's usually a nice walk, and there are plenty of people to see; as they come, and go from their villages to town. The traffic whether they are on foot, bicycle, car, bus, or "colectivo"(small paid shuttles) keeps rolling by.

Usually I walk jamming out to my mp3; it's got the entire spectrum of music loaded, and the variety makes the walk interesting. Also, while I'm walking I usually pick the occasional long stem of grass to simply play with as I walk(I know kinda a faggy habit, but one I enjoy). Today this very practice almost cost me a lot of pain, or my life.

The pickings of grass have really trickled down as the winter, or what little winter we get here is setting in. There just was no grass to grab; which I am a person who likes their habits, and was becoming some what perturbed at no damn grass. I noticed up ahead of me while returning home a patch of tall grass just off the road way, but close. I thought about stopping to pick it, and usually decisions like these for myself can go 50-50; as to whether I follow the want, or not.

I decided not to, and was actually surprised that I kept walking. All of a sudden the screeching of car wheels followed by the sound of wheels sliding on gravel came to my ears from behind. Right at the very exact spot that I was gonna pick the grass a car ran off the road. To be exact, the car ran right over where I would have been picking grass; had I stopped as I had contemplated, then I would have been hit.

So, what was it? What made me not stop, and make the decision to keep walking? Time, and I believe destiny both played a part in the whole affair. The car could have easily slid off the road where I was currently, or it could have slid off anywhere, but where it did slide off was where I had placed actually a lot of thought into stopping. So, the car goes off right where I would have been standing, but something spurred me on. Was it just simple coincidence, or something more?

I have heard many stories like this; many that are by far more incredible. Many people will shrug their shoulders, and say, "coincidence", but I disagree; not by ignorance do I disagree, but through calculating the variables out in my head. Considering all the variables that could have happened in my particular instance, and the very fact I was concentrating on that very spot where the car slid; there just is something more to this life. Not a god per say, but something more; call it destiny.

Maybe all that destiny will be to create a butterfly effect; possibly by simply holding a door, or saying hello. I just don't know, but what happened at 5pm Central Standard Time was the literal wind of destiny pushing me out of the way. I've heard that destiny is the driving force in this world, and until our destiny, or contract with the cosmos is fulfilled we cannot die; just interesting to think about I guess.

Should any of ya'll have anything similar you'd like to share, then please do.
Peace,

Sancho :smile:

The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable.

you should enter the secret writing contest! nonetheless, sancho, somehow, somewhere something urges us....our conscience? i've missed many a death....somehow. glad you are still w/us. you have a purpose. the one who invented us designed us for a purpose and until that purpose has been fulfilled.......you will remain.

Sancho,

Nice to hear you are still with us!

Your encounter with fate is very interesting. I do believe in fate...
destiny as it is called...and to the extent that we do not have utter control over everything.

Re: Intricacies of Time, and Destiny.

@frostback,

I look forward to your story, and thank you for the compliment.

@VonHelman,

Darn! :wink: I was really interested to see what you had to say!

@musslewhite,

Yep, I've thought long, and hard about entering the writing contest...."maybe".. :lol: :lol: Regarding a grand design, and purpose? I do believe you're correct. Who knows what each one of us are here to do. Maybe some of us don't even have anything to do, but enjoy the world, or try! I'm glad you're still around as well!

@HighSeasMaiden,

Fate/destiny is an interesting concept. It's something that can only be philosophized as far as i can see, but I think it is as concrete as things get. With that in consideration I don't understand how people can feel they are in absolute control.... Just Donno :umm: :unsure: :ohmy:

@stormdancer777,

:lol: :lol: Actually what you wrote is spot on. I've noticed this same thing about time; so why?

It happens all the time, some people become aware of these coincidences, some people don't see them for what they are.

Maybe there is a script,

I don't know, I realize there are no answers, it is all a great mystery.

Anything I could add would just be a guess.

Re: Intricacies of Time, and Destiny.

Yesterday I had it all typed out with a bunch of windows open and after I tried posting several time and then messaging you I figured I needed to reboot my computer. I accidently closed out before saving what I had written and it was too late to save it and so I lost what I had written but let me try to recap.

I first think you need to do not concern yourself about time intricacies and destination as much as I would be “VERY” concerned about that “Faggy” grass habit, and I emphasize VERY CONCERNED
You know I’m just poking fun.

Seriously let me address two very different situations and let me ask you your opinions regarding them,

First a situation like the one you had where time simply either puts you in harm’s way or allows you to escape it. You say maybe your purpose was not filled on earth and therefore might be the reason the car slid off the road behind where you were just standing and missed you. I can understand this if your destiny had not been fulfilled, for example maybe you time hasn’t come until after this site has put that other in the CT grave.

Now the other example I have is say an 8 year old girl who has cancer and then later dies. What was her destiny or purpose on this earth? Was it to keep compassion in others or a sense of “smallness” I the grand scheme of things, we may never know?

I can see the kid who is killed in a tragic accident where someone else or some company is at fault and that dead persons family collects a large settlement, thus the death was maybe part of that families destiny to acquire money to better themselves or something weird like that.

So time and destiny are two very different things and sometimes they cross paths and make for a post like this one you made, which is where you timing was part of your destiny.

For the record I feel a much higher calling for myself and feel one day I will do something great for the world in my own small way and although I don’t have a clue what it will be, or when it will happen or how I will know it’s just something I have felt all my life as if one day I will know. Call me delusional but my shrink says my meds are at their maximum limits and even over in some cases. :Smile:

Re: Intricacies of Time, and Destiny.

@sancho

(I know kinda a faggy habit, but one I enjoy). Lol, what's so faggy about picking a blade of grass?

Now if you were picking flowers and sticking them in your hair....

Anyways, I am glad you are well and with us and not in the hospital or worse!

I have a story but it's not about me it's about my stepfather. This happened around 10 years ago.

My stepfather and my mother were coming home from grocery shopping. It was dark and stormy and the rain was coming down in buckets. My mother being one of those types that does not like to get wet wanted to sit in the car and wait for the rain to let off a bit. After waiting 10 miniutes and no signs of the rain letting off my stepdad was finished waiting and decided they would just make a run for the door. As soon as they got to the door a huge limb from an oak tree breaks off smashing the roof of the car in, it was so bad that where my stepdad was sitting the steering wheel was poking out of the windshield. He would have been crushed horribly. What made him pick that exact time to leave the car? Who knows....

Re: Intricacies of Time, and Destiny.

@Yellowbeard,

I like that saying! "you can't drown a man that was born to hang" Awesome actually.. Something I'd expect to hear in a Western, or action flick!

@stormdancer777,

Yes, my point exactly!!! We've got this mystery, and donno what it means. Most folks just donno, and don't care to know. I wanna know!

@VonHelman,

I've often wondered about what purpose the sick, or ailing people of this world is... Why do they have to suffer??? And to that I just donno. I've wondered that every time something awful happens, or anything is suffering. We found a puppy not too long ago on the side of the road. Half past dead, and we got her the care she needed. The veterinarian said that had she been left out just a couple hours more, and she'd be dead.

I catch myself looking at this puppy, and wondering why, or the mystery in us bringing her in to the vet. I think even animals can have destiny, and I wonder about hers. Within a hairs breath of her life, and now she's happy for her life. Turns out she is a rare Mexican bread: Xolo.

@LucentEnigma,

That's a wicked story about your Daddy! Damn, wow, that is some hair raising stuff there. I can only imagine, but it is just like yellowbeard said,"you can't drown a man that was born to hang!"

Yes, picking grass is faggy in Mexico. These men have got their Machismo stuff goin' on. Gotta look tough for the lady folks, but actually they are very in touch with their feminine side; just an interesting "Latin" culture.

Re: Intricacies of Time, and Destiny.

Hi Sancho
Great question with oh so many possibilities.
I don't know how or why but I think its all mapped out - destiny. This is perhaps proven by the ISS cosmonaut that actually moved into time by a 50th of a second. Consider then if he stayed there longer he may have moved ahead of time by lets say 1 second. Nevertheless 1 second or 1 day the same results he moves ahead yet we are all here. So its like this Sancho there is a you and me and everyone 50th or 1 second or 1 day into the future in fact its said there is a you from your birth to your death. That's destiny.
