Protecting your health during radioactive fallout, and the ensuing chaos
This thread is designed to help people provide the best protection possible for your health, and the health of your family over the coming weeks and months, as radiation from the Fukushima Nuclear plant continues to fall out.
What we have to hope is that the lions share of the radiation is going to hit the Pacific, which isn't too far fetched considering the relatively heavy mass of the particles, and the possibilities of storms across the ocean producing rain. With that said, it is an absolute guarantee that the United States, and ultimately the rest of the world will be poisoned with this fallout, not if, but when – and how bad.
Since 1986, Chernobyl has been blamed for one million deaths world-wide, and I personally believe this is a conservative estimate. The largest problem with radioactive fall out, is that in small doses, it produces a very slow death. Thus, it becomes harder and harder to pinpoint the cause of the death, and therefore I assume scores of deaths that should have been rightfully attributed to Chernobyl, weren't.
The situation we are dealing with in Japan, will absolutely dwarf the situation that occurred at Chernobyl. Not only are four of six reactors in complete meltdown, the other two are expected to meet the same fate. After just 60 seconds of exposure to the air, reactor rods begin to melt down. The Nuclear reactor rods in Fukushima Reactor 2, were exposed in their entirety, for two and a half hours. This is an absolute guarantee for major meltdown, and that was more than 24 hours ago. Keep in mind, that when we look at satellite photos, Reactor 2 building is the only building that is not laying in a pile of rubble. But there is a hole in the side, spewing radiation from the melting down core.
Take a look at a full scale image of the melting down reactors, and the piles of rubber that - were - 1.5 meter thick, concrete buildings.
There is no one alive today that has witnessed a disaster occur on this scale. By the time this is finished, it could easily claim more lives than the World Wars. In japan alone we have 130 million people, and most of Japan – if not all, will be uninhabitable for many, many, decades. For the rest of your life, you will speak of your past as “before Japan, and after Japan”, two distinctly different era's and paradigms.
Protecting your health
The key to protecting your health is ensuring absolute top nutrition in the coming months, radiation is not like a bullet to the head, its like a million paper-cuts. If the human body is running at peak performance it can actually heal itself of damage caused by radiation, assuming that all other precautions of reducing exposure amounts have been maintained. There are people who survived both the Hiroshima, and then also the Nagasaki nuclear bombings, and lived full lives. These people are an example of how the body can fight radiation, as long as it is running at peak performance.
You will want to buy as many of the following supplements as you can, if you are limited on funds, buy what you can and prepare to properly ration them to your family. Keep an eye on radiation levels across the nation by visiting Radiation Network and BlackCatSystems as well as by listening to any breaking news. It's not the 80's anymore, and the media cannot hide things for long, so it will eventually leak out regardless. In times where radiation levels are exposed, make sure you are hitting the supplements as hard as you can, and ensure that infants, children, and young adults take highest priority for optimized nutrition among your group.
Make sure you choose supplements manufactured by good companies, I make no recommendations, and ensure to buy the highest concentrations you can. This means you take less, and the bottles last longer. Keep in mind, any doses recommended are for full grown adults, and should be proportionately reduced for , infants and children. If you must, try to receive these vitamins and nutrients from good foods, but I highly recommend proper supplements as getting the proper amounts from nutrition may be far too insufficient, and food may become heavily contaminated over the following months.
Vitamin C:
Vitamin C is the ultimate wonder vitamin. In fact people routinely claim to cure cancer mega-dosing Vitamin C, unfortunately to effectively mega-dose requires an IV. But during fallout people should consume between 5-10 grams of Vitamin C, per day, spaced out across the day. If you can take more, then do it. If you begin to get loose stool, back off on the amount a bit or space it out more effectively through the day. Make sure you choose a brand that also includes bioflavinoids in sufficient amounts, as they are required to improve uptake.
Vitamin A:
”Vitamin A: In 1974, researchers from India found that vitamin A, when taken internally by humans, hastened recovery from radiation. In 1984, Dr. Eli Seifter and a team of researchers fro the Albert Einstein College of Medicine….reported vitamin A and beta-carotene counteracted both partial and total body gamma radiation. It also improved the healing of wounds; reduced weight loss, thymic and splenic atrophy, and adrenal enlargement; and prevented gastro-ulceration and an abnormal decrease in red and white blood cell formation. (The therapeutic purposes, 25,000 to 35,000 IU are recommended for adults. During emergencies or crisis situations, intensive exposure may warrant as much as 40,000 to 100,000 IU of beta-carotene, but should be taken for no more than three to four weeks. Infants should not consume high amounts.” 1
Vitamin B Complex (Tincture):
The B class of Vitamins are another set of amazing important vitamins. Get a complete B vitamin complex supplement in liquid form. This improves absorption, and is easier to take than more pills (as you'll already be eating many pills).
“Vitamin B12 is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the body, especially affecting the DNA synthesis and regulation but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production.” - Wikipedia
Cancer destroys cells and DNA, and just this one B vitamin works to ensure proper function of both those areas. The complex works in synergy to provide optimum cell replication, and DNA integrity, but overall Vitamin B complex helps to regulate proper functioning of almost every part of your body. If you take only two supplements, let it be Vitamin B and C.
Vitamin D3:
Almost everyone is Vitamin D deficient, and its an extremely important vitamin. Vitamin D regulates the immune system, improves calcium and phosporous, improves brain function, and helps to regulate weight. It is another very important vitamin, and as noted, most people are deficient from lack of sunlight. Just like vitamin c, it's hard to overdo this vitamin, and doses of 5000-1000iu are fine, and should be maintained if experiencing fallout.
Vitamin E:
”Vitamin E: It can protect against the effects of x-rays and radioactive cobalt. It improves anemia following exposure to radiation. It can provide internal and external protection against cesium-137 which is a common component of fallout and nuclear power plant leaks and routine emissions. For the form of E d-alpha-tocopherol, an adult weighting about 155 would need about 900 IU per day. (I take more than this every day normally. On exposure, I would take 1600 IU as I have many times for several weeks. I prefer to get the dry, water dispersable E, but any kind is good as long as it is fresh. The oil can go rancid. Also, try to get the most natural form.) E also helps prevent the destruction of Vitamin A and fatty acids by massive doses of x-rays. If large doses of C, B and E are taken before exposure, the terrible symptoms of radiation sickness can be reduced or eliminated to a large degree. Caution: E should be used cautiously if you have high blood pressure or rheumatic heart disease.”2
A strong Multi-Vitamin:
Because multi-vitamins have so many vitamins included in them, they are included at much smaller rates than if you're specifically taking one Vitamin. A good multivitamin will ensure you are at least getting a bit of almost all the key vitamins, and during heavy fallout, people should maintain a regimen of one in the morning, and one and night.
Radiation Oncologists tell their patients to avoid Vitamins A, B, C, D and E while they undergo radiation therapy because the purpose of radiation therapy, is to destroy cells, and those vitamins effectively prevent cell destruction. Along with those vitamins, patients are told to avoid all anti-oxidants, as they will prevent cell destruction, these vitamins as well as all bright fruits and vegetables, and selenium are all good antioxidants
Kelp – Iodide:
Potassium iodide pills, the real ones like IOSAT are 130mg, and should only be taken if in the direct area of a meltdown, they are very powerful. As everyone knows, they are sold out nation-wide and are completely out of reach. But that's ok, keep in mind that KI only protects against one form of radiation, and the people who simply take that and hope for the best, are going to be far worse off than people that focus on total optimum health.
Begin taking the strongest Kelp supplement you can take. They are usually very small amounts per dose, like 150mcg, meaning you would need about 1000 to compare to IOSAT mega-dose. But you can begin taking Kelp supplements at a rate of 5 doses per serving, immediate, and that will build up the iodide levels in your thyroid gland, and will be better than nothing. Remember radioactive iodine is just one form of radiation.
Calcium – Magnesium:
CalMag can drastically reduce the uptake of Strontium, so make sure to take heavy doses of this if exposed to radiation. Be careful not to over do it, unless you are experiencing high exposure.
Vegetable Oil:
Cold pressed extra virgin oils, can help protect cell membranes, consume it by the tablespoon, or even larger doses if exposed to direct radiation fallout.
Essential Fatty Acids:
Vegetable oils will provide some EFA's, but you should consider a proper EFA supplement complete with the whole range of EFA's.
Iron and Zinc:
Zinc helps rid the body of numerous heavy metals, as well as blocks uptake of Radioactive Zinc. Being exposed to radiation depletes Iron, and has been blamed for increasing anemia during radiation sickness, make sure to supplement Iron, as multivitamins usually do not contain enough to be effective, especially during exposure.
Chlorophyll:
Found in all leafy green vegetables, but should also be supplemented. Studies have found Chlorophyll can dramatically reduce radiation sickness
Other suggested supplements:
Ginseng, Pectin, Medicinal Charcoal, Sodium Alganate, Cysteine, Glutamine, Green Tea, Black Tea, Aloe, Beets, Bee Pollen.
Keep in mind that as I stated earlier, someone who works to achieve full total bodily nutrition is going to suffer far less than someone who simply takes KI tablets. I will bet anything that those who focus on heavy supplementation to ensure total health, will do much better in the coming times pertaining to their health.
The next steps
Supplements will help ensure your body is healthy during the coming months, but its pointless if you're starving or can't find clean water. You have to immediately stock up on large amounts of food, and clean water. Water purification (How ever you want to do it) is an absolute must. You should ensure at least a three month supply of food, and make sure to keep it in the most protected place in your house, like the basement, or underground (if that's possible).
The next step is to try and prepare a safe zone inside your house. Basements are the best place to start, as 3 feet of soil will protect you from 99% of the radiation. The key is getting as much mass between you and the outside. Even books, and other things can help provide mass. Block off doors as best as you can with as much mass as possible. Ensure you've sealed all exterior windows and doors as best as possible with thick plastic, and taped seams.
You must be prepared for sustained isolation. Soon, radiation will only be one threat you are faced with. As the severity of the situation becomes to great to hide, and the sheep finally awaken to the horror of the situation, do not believe for one second that people will act as appropriately as the honorable Japanese people. Store shelves will be liquidated, line-ups at gas stations, mass panic will ensue. You think Black Friday is bad when people trample each other for a discount, wait till they're trampling for their life.
On top of this, Earthquakes and other disasters are being forecast for North America, and don't be surprised if there are other catastrophic events that unfold in the coming months – much closer to home.
For this reason, you must begin immediate and dramatic preparations as soon as possible. Get there before the hordes do. Best of luck, as we enter the darkest era for the majority of humanity.
