When the futures are down, doesn't that mean the markets tend to fluxtuate lower? I get so confused.

~Tend~ to trend lower USED to be the norm, but, these days...who can forecast how the Market will react to anything in reality... :hrmm:

DJIA has the biggest gain since July 15th? What a crock of BS...

UE only declined by 1k...still over 530k a month are losing jobs...tens of thousands are being dumped off UE rolls and CONgress is still sitting on their hands...the 3.5%+ GDP is all a joke...

Stocks fall, giving back some of previous day's big gains, as personal spending dips

Investors shed stocks after the Labor Department said personal spending fell 0.5 percent in September. Though the decline was in line with forecasts, it was the largest drop in nine months and followed a 1.3 percent jump in August fueled by the government's popular Cash for Clunkers car rebate program.

"Until we get to better employment numbers, it's hard to get real income growth and real spending ... and we're just not there yet," said Kurt Karl, chief US economist at Swiss Re. "Today is a reaction to a little bit of excess exuberance yesterday."
